Reality is that many people spend considerable sums of money on books that they read once and shelve permanently. Gluttons. I kid. No, not really, but I live in NYC; so space is pretty precious... OK, I am really just glad that the public still reads.
One of the more awesome features of the circulating library system is requesting a book.* A little, happy (yay) email kindly tells you a book you requested is waiting, ready for pick up at your earliest convenience. Wouldn't it be even better if the library could deliver it to you? To your office? To your beach vacation home?
Friends and I discussed.**
Our conclusion: We'd pay for that additional service; works for Netflix.
